This EF-s 18-55m f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens is manufactured by Canon. It is compatible with APS-C format camera. The focal length range is about 18-55mm which is equal to the 29-88mm when used in 35mm format. The optical image stabilization provided with this camera provides the equivalent result as provided by four stops of the shake correction. It works really well in low light. The precision of the aspherical element is very high thus this camera can easily deal with the full zoom range. This lens also supports Canon EOS movie servo AF feature which helps in making quite and smooth auto focusing during movie recording. This feature is enabled by using six group zoom system and focusing mechanism supported by stepping motor. Manual focus is also possible when you are shooting in the AF mode. The internal focusing system enables the faster performance and it helps to maintain the overall compact lens form factor.
The front element of the lens stay still while focusing thus you can use polarizing filter without any problem. The lens coating is done by ensuring the color balance while minimizing the flare and ghosting. The seven blades of circular diaphragm provides the beautiful optical image stabilization and the correction up to 4 stops in case of any kind of camera shake. Thus it can provide the clear images even in low light.
During movie shooting you would be able to get the smooth and continuous AF shooting due to compact zoom system, stepping motor and focusing mechanism.
Manual focus option is also provided by this camera so that you can even use it when you are using autofocus mode. It is required for more precise focusing which can’t be achieved using auto mode. The provided lens can easily reduce aberrations and it will provide edge to edge sharpness.
